ABOUT THE CYANOTYPE
This is a beautiful simple and inexpensive process. This deep Prussian blue process can be printed on art paper and fabric, toning offers a range of different effects and colours. In 1999 Mike Ware published his development of chemical improvements to Herschel’s 1842 original Cyanotype formulation, shortening exposure times, providing contrast control and a longer graduation of tones.
Background: In 1842 the process was presented to the Royal Society of London by Sir John Herschel. The “Blue print” was used extensively as a copying process for engineers and architects.
