The Gathering 2008 Large format - 4x5 and beyond |
|||||||||||
NB: Classes limited to 25 The Gathering was formed in June 2007 so like-minded
photographers, who take pleasure in working with large format cameras and
black & white film could meet to share information, views and ideas
The Gathering 2007 was unique, for the first time in Australia 27 photographers dedicated to the use of large format cameras met to share views and photograph the villages of Trentham and Trentham East. Cameras used by the members are 4x5, 5x7 and 8x10 inches. They were processed, printed, framed (professional conservation framing) and on the wall in an exhibition in less than 72 hours. Chris Reid director and master fine printer of Blanco Negro flew from Sydney, donating his time processing film and printing to make this possible. This type of exhibition would normally take several months to prepare. The Gathering was so successful the demand from member was to have it annually instead of biannually. An expert panel of three with a mediator will assist discussion flow. While photographing, experienced photographers may wish "buddy" up with less experienced or to share a different way of seeing.
