The ziatype is a variation on the platinum and palladium process. It was developed in the Labs of Bostick & Sullivan by Richard Sullivan in the early 1990s, and is a variation of Guiseppe Pizzighelli's printing out process developed in the late 1800's. The Ziatype name came from the ancient New Mexico Anasazi pueblo people's symbol for the sun. When printing, no darkroom, developer, enlarger or artificial light source is required. You can work in most normal workspaces, expose in a printing frame in sunlight. A glass rod and three trays complete the equipment list. That's all there is to it. The prints are an object of beauty maintaining long term stability.

BBob & Mary Kersey run Black Mountain Photographic Workshops in NSW. Bob is one of the few exhibiting photographers in the world, possibility the only exhibiting photographer in the world producing Ziatypes from 12x20 negatives. Bob has exhibited widely with platinum and palladium in Sydney, Melbourne and NSW Regional Galleries. Bob Kersey studied with Gordon Undy and Richard Sullivan and has developed a deep knowledge in this process and wonderful method of instructing in the gentle art of Ziatype.
