For those who love working with analogue film –  learn the  basics of enlarging film in the dark-room as was practiced before the advent of digital inkjet negatives. Making interpositives and internegatives from 35 mm 120 roll film and sheet film, to expose onto Bergger continuous tone print film, perfect for printing alternative processes.

This is a hands-on workshop exploring elements of reproducing enlargements from analogue film including 35mm, roll film and large format sheet film.

Bergger Print Film is a new technical black-and-white lab film (ISO 3) mainly dedicated to darkroom use. Apart from making interpositives or internegatives there are other uses: making copies of existing negatives for duplication, (same size) altering the image size for use with alternative processes or transparencies from negatives in different sizes then the original.

Bergger Print Film is provided for this workshop and you’ll be exposing and processing film in the workshop.

Topics covered:

  • Types of film to enlarge internegatives from.
  • Methods of exposing for the right density for alternative process printing such as platinum palladium, cyanotype and salt printing
  • Handling and storing negative

Ellie has been been printing in the darkroom for more than 40 years and has worked with the art, craft and science of ‘alternative’ photographic processes since 1994. More information click professional instructors
