low contrast properties in the highlights, warm mid-tones, and high contrast colder tones in the shadows. It is an extremely flexible process and many variations may be found from highly graphic to soft ethereal effects. Lith prints tone well in selenium and gold.
ABOUT CHRIS REID
Chris Reid, director Blanco Negro Custom Black & White Pro Lab has been printing since 1989. His passion for black and white printing and darkroom skills shows in the quality of his work. He is in high demand from both commercial photographers and the photographic artist.
His work has been seen in many galleries across Sydney including the National Gallery of NSW. Chris’s unique way of imparting knowledge gives a great deal pleasure and success to his students.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
The workshop is aimed for printers with some experience and during the day you will:
Gain the knowledge and skills to enjoy the Lith experience in your own darkroom. Procedures require to get started (often the hardest process to work out) and to continue printing though the day.
Learn to gauge what negatives are suited
Discover the chemistry formulas, paper stock and basic toning techniques.
A troubling shooting process to determine what is going wrong or where your print is just going.
