Description
This is a traditional varnish used for wet plate collodion photography. It is made from Sandarac. This is a resin from the small cypress-like tree native to northwest of Africa and Southern Morocco part of the Atlas mountains. The resin is used with lavender oil and alcohol to make this vanish for collodion tintype, ambrotype and wet plate negatives, protecting the silver image from oxidisation and surface damage.
