Icelandic poppy – Papaver croceum
This delicate looking poppy can be found billowing in the breeze. The soft petals give a false impression of its strength. The strongstalk sways with the breeze giving flexibility and durability in the wind. The petals are contained in a furry capsule. When the capsule pops open the crinkled petals unfold revealing the full flower.
Poppies flower in the spring producing bright colours and bring a sense of summer drawing near. These light, bright and airy flowers are a pleasure to behold.
