Vines Over Church – Cyanotype / Palladium

Cyanotype printing over palladium/ platinum This is an effective method of using colour to built depth to enrich shadow areas.  Cyanotype over platinum/ palladium attracted photographic artist from 1900. Renowned users were Edward Steichen & Alfred Stiegliz. Edward Steichen’s Jean Simpson in Profile 1923 cyanotype over Palladium/Platinotype has attracted photographic artist practitioners since William Willis’s invention of 1873, and became the dominant photographic print process in 1900. 

About Sam Wang: (USA) Sam Wang was born in China and grew up in Hong Kong. He received an MFA in photography from the University of Iowa in 1966 and taught photography and “art with computer” till retirement as Alumni Distinguished Professor of Art in 2006. His book, SAM WANG – Four Decades of Photographic Explorations was published in 2010. He received the Elizabeth Verner/South Carolina Governor’s award for his contributions to the arts in South Carolina in 2012. 

Sam’s work in handcrafted printing processes as well as images from his handmade cameras have been exhibited widely in the US and overseas, and collected by museums such as the NY Metropolitan Museum, the High Museum in Atlanta, the Lishui Museum of Photography in China, and Center for Creative Photography in Arizona, among many others. http://www.samwang.us Sam is known as a master at cyanotype over Palladium Platinotype.
